October 2013, Duncan is four.
Yesterday, Duncan told me he played dress up at preschool. I asked what he wore and he told me that first he was “a nighttime”.
“A nighttime?” I asked. “You mean, a knight?”
“Oh, yeah,” he said, “a black knight.”
“And what did you do when you were a knight?”
“Fighted bad guys,” he said.
Then he told me that when he tired of being a knight, he changed into a “fancy princess”.
“What did you wear when you were a fancy princess?” I asked.
“Oh, a beautiful, so, so pink dress and fairy wings,” he said with a shrug.
“Wow! That does sound fancy,” I said.
“Yep. It was,” said he.
“And what did you do when you were a princess?”
“Fighted bad guys.”
